Articling at RDQ

Articling at RQ Partners LLP. Barristers & Solicitors

The articling experience at RQ Partners LLP. reflects our pragmatic business philosophy. We take pride in providing our articling students with a well-rounded practical experience and training, in a “hands on” environment and with collegial guidance.

Our articling students are immersed in a full-service law firm environment and exposed to various practice areas, civil litigation, real estate, and corporate and commercial.

In the litigation department, the students will partake in complex drafting, research and strategizing projects. Students will also have an opportunity to attend on motions at the Superior Court of Justice, matters in the Small Claims Court, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

In the real estate, corporate and commercial rotations, the students are involved in all stages of a variety of business transactions. The experiences include negotiations, drafting documents, and participation in closing acquisitions, commercial leases, as well as commercial and residential real estate transactions.

In all practice areas, RQ Partners LLP. articling students are entrusted with client interactions and, wherever possible, managing files with minimal supervision.

We encourage articling students to accept as much responsibility as they feel confident in assuming, while receiving guidance to acquire the aptitude and knowledge required for developing their own successful practice.

Orientation Day and Events

In July of each year, we host an orientation day for transition between outgoing and incoming articling students. This event will provide an interactive opportunity for sharing experiences and introduction of the groups of students to staff, lawyers, and each other.

The orientation day is one of the many opportunities for articling students to integrate with the lawyers at RQ Partners LLP. and learn the firm’s culture. The articling students can attend “Lunch with the Lawyers” at least once in each week during the articling term. Also, the students are encouraged to attend at the informal cocktail and dinner gatherings that are organized from time to time to enhance social culture of the firm as a whole.

Rotation

The Articling program at RQ Partners LLP. offers a two-part rotation in the following areas. To the extent possible and subject to departmental needs, the length and order of exposure to each practice area is catered to the individual articling students’ interests.

PART I: Real Estate, Corporate, and Commercial (Optional: Wills, Estates and Trusts)

PART II: Civil Litigation (Optional: Family Law and Employment Law)
